After: Dining Room
|
Before: Dining Room |
I met this client a few years ago and immediately loved her personality and sense of style. She recently moved into her mom's house so she could help take care of her ailing mom and asked me to help update it. As we talked about the overall design style, she told me that she loved Candice Olson and that she would love to have a little bit of Divine Design. Well, I have always been a huge fan of Candice and was so excited to be able to help modernize this home as well as give it a little sparkle. I also wanted to create a space that she loved and could relax at the end of her long days after taking care of everyone else. I think that we achieved that sense of comfort and elegance and I could not be more pleased..

Dining Room After: One of the most important things in a dining room is having the proper lighting and this space was missing a chandelier and also any sense of structure. Adding this beautiful sparkly chandelier set the tone for the whole makeover and the entire house. It was a steal on lampsplus.com! The 2 gorgeous lamps on the side table were a splurge at 69.99 each but they add so much they were worth it. |

Window Seat Before |
|
Window Seat After: The window seat had to be washable because they have 2 dogs that love to lay in the sun and look out the window. It made it a little tricky to keep it stylish and luxurious as well as functional but I think the combo of the washable fabric with the elegant pillows works.
The Wall Treatment: I am in love with this wallpaper. It was reasonable price and I found this pattern at my local Sherwin Williams. It was actually my 2nd choice. My 1st choice was too expensive but sometimes you get lucky when things don't work out and this is one of those times when I am so GLAD that things didn't go as PLANNED. This was the perfect wallpaper for this space and I love how it blended perfectly with the paint colors that we had already picked out. It adds so much interest and style to the room. |

Entry Way After: My client loves ARTWORK....you know the real stuff (not that there is anything wrong with all my TJMaxx finds), so when she found this piece I was super excited to put it into this space. It brings the family room color into the entry way and I love how it blends with the chest of drawers (which is special to the client). |

Entertainment Center Before |
|
Entertainment Center After: The question when we began this room was whether we needed to paint this "permanent book case/entertainment center" or leave it in its original finish. I knew that painting would be a big expensive challenge so I told my client that we would do everything else and then see what we thought about it. I think that we were able to bring the color of the wood in through the items she already owned like the chairs by the fireplace, the entryway chest, and the kitchen table. Accessorizing it with feminine and masculine accessories keeps it balanced and it is a great unit for holding the TV, phone, and components, so for me it works! |

The inspiration for this space came from the Ceramic Garden Stool!! |

Family Room Before: View of Dining Room |
|
Family Room After: View into Dining room. This view also shows the beautiful standing floor lamp (Potterybarn). It makes the space and brings much needed overhead lighting into the seating area. Candice is all about her lighting and this lamp was worth the extra money! |

Kitchen Before |
|
Kitchen After: Because the Kitchen had such light counter tops, cabinets, and the wall color was also light,by changing the wall color, counter tops, adding hard ware (new appliances also helped) we got a whole lot of bang for our buck. |
|
Kitchen Before: Dated bar stools were clunky. |
|
Kitchen After: Overstock Chairs =) |
